Under the Poplar is the artist name of Silver Spring, MD-based guitarist and producer Heath Witzen. His music is usually a smoothie blend of rock, indie pop, singer-songwriter, and jazz. Under the Poplar embodies the DIY spirit, with Heath producing, mixing, and mastering the tracks.

The upcoming 2026 EP, “No Heaven” will be Under the Poplar’s first after releasing his first three singles in 2025. The single, “No Heaven,” (out now!) infuses his indie pop lyrics with blues rock and a hint of soul. In between gritty guitar tone, the song describes a man being ensnared by an enchantress, and loving every minute of it.

The four-track EP, named “No Heaven” (after the single) will be released on June 12, 2026
